Office Recycling - the future of recycling is here!

The Office Recycling group will take place as an exhibitor at the Nordic Sustainability Expo in May. Office Recycling, Smart Bins and Wayoo present the recycling solutions of the future in a joint stand,. What will happen at the meeting place and what are the success factors for this fast-growing group? NSE had a chat with Office Recycling's marketing manager Jenny Pettersson.

Office Recycling was founded in 2011 by Dino Eklöf who, with his previous experiences in transport, logistics and environmental management, had a vision to change the entire recycling industry. He wanted to move from oil-dependent vehicles, obtuse collection schedules and unattractive waste bins, to a 100% fossil-free vehicle fleet, flexible collection schedules adapted to the customer and designed bins and source sorting solutions.

11 years later, Office Recycling is thriving and continues to be a trailblazer on the recycling scene. In 2021, Smart Bins Nordic AB was welcomed into the group family with its user-friendly greentech solutions. The product range includes, among other things, a fully automated composting machine that converts food waste into nutritious soil in just one day.

Dino's ideas have been successful and Office Recycling is growing strongly with a growth rate of approximately 40% per year. So what is it then that makes them so successful? - Service and environment permeate everything we do, and it shows in many different ways. Through fast, personal help from our customer service, and our service staff who go the extra mile with customers are just two examples. In addition, we take our responsibility to spread our knowledge further and educate our customers about new laws and regulations, how to create a more sustainable workplace or increase their sorting in the form of webinars, trainings and articles. It's an exciting industry we operate in, but we also know that it can sometimes be difficult to interpret what is right, what applies and why recycling is so important for our community and future, says Jenny Pettersson at Office Recycling.

Concern for the environment and reducing emissions is part of the business model and they currently have a 100% fossil-free vehicle fleet, which they were early on. The transports are labeled with Good Environmental Choice, which they are the only ones in the industry to do. They also offer their customers annual climate reports that demonstrate how much climate savings the customer made during the given year with fossil-free recycling via Office Recycling. Which is really appreciated by the customers.

In Office Recycling's latest innovation project Wayoo, the recycling solutions of the future are at the center. Here they contribute to the journey in moving from a linear to a circular economy, as a large part of all waste at some point passes a property. For a long time in the industry, they have identified, analyzed and validated the challenges that exist for real estate companies and tenants. This has resulted in an overall concept that they call Wayoo, where they connect the entire waste room with sensors and smart solutions. Via data-driven and automated operation of waste management, optimal recycling is enabled in and around properties and improves the property's net operating income, which makes tenants happier and contributes to the journey towards a climate-neutral property.

So what will happen during the Nordic Sustainability Expo, we wonder? - Above all, we will highlight the recycling of the future, talk about resources and circularity and show off the group's unique offers and products. At the moment, interesting sessions and workshops are planned and we will give an exciting talk about the role of recycling in the transition to circular, climate-neutral cities.
